NamingΒΆ

A variable name should be expressive and searchable. As a result, single letter names should generally be proscribed. Plural usually designates for a collection. Name length is not a burden thanks to autocompletion. Functions perform a task which usually means that their name contains a verb.

The style convention is:

  • lower_case with separating underscores for variables, functions and modules

  • is_something or has_something for booleans

  • UPPER_CASE with separating underscores for constants

  • CamelCase for classes

  • _ for an unused returned value

  • _leading_underscore for a parameter or function considered as private
